Introducing Harry’s Hotel And Bistro, Aberystwyth
Author: Karl Fraser
Wales is often called the “little big country” and is well known for it’s beautiful hills and valleys. Aberystwyth is excellently placed on the west coast of Wales with the harbour being fed by the confluence of the rivers Ystwyth and Rheidol. The seaside town is surrounded by the Irish Sea to one side and three hills to the other and though small it is an excellent place to take a vacation.
While the two beaches of Aberystwyth do not benefit from the soft golden sand usually found along the Welsh coast this does not make it any the less popular. There are basically two reasons for this popularity, water sports, such as surfing, and the elegant wide promenade and splendid Victorian and Edwardian architecture.
In’72 Aberystwyth University, now known as the University of Wales, was established. Today the university attracts around 8,000 students which increase the towns population (of about 16,000) by a half during the University term time.
To meet the demands of the local, student and tourist population you will find that dotted about the town are countless bars, cafes and pubs. Ranging from the local type pub to the flash town centre bars there is plenty to choose from but few establishments rival Harry’s Hotel And Bistro for atmosphere.
Harry’s Hotel And Bistro is situated right in the centre of town and features a wonderful Irish Bar which often features live music. The recently refurbished Bistro has an open plan kitchen and a Modern Bistro style menu.
Although Harry’s is centrally located the Aberystwyth one way system can confuse some folk. As long as you remember that the hotel is located on North Parade on the left hand side of the road on the one-way system you shouldn’t have any difficulty finding it.
Harry’s Hotel is within easy walking distance of many Aberystwyth visitor attractions and it is found not too far from the town’s railways station and Tourist Information Office. The hotel benefits from having large spacious rooms which are light and airy. The majority of rooms have soft furnishings, flat screen satellite TV, Wi-Fi Internet and a great many other common facilities and some more usual in more luxurious accommodation.
One of the great things about Aberystwyth is that it is within easy distance of places such as Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Bristol and Cardiff (roughly two to three hours away but a pleasant drive). So, if you are visiting any of these cities on business you may wish to spend the weekend relaxing at Harry’s Hotel And Bistro. Who says you can’t mix business with pleasure?
