Choosing A Hotel
Author: Andrew Walchester
To help you find the good hotels, and avoid the bad / poor value ones, here are some practical guidelines that you can follow…
Location : The closer you are to the center of the town, the less time you have to waste on traveling to and from the local attractions. Town center hotels can be a bit much if you are there for longer than a week though. You can certainly save money by staying in hotels that are a little out of the way, and some will even offer a free shuttle bus to take you to and from the town center.
Cleanliness : Always consider cleanliness and sanitation when deciding which hotel to book. It is not at all recommended to try and save money by staying in a hotel that cuts costs by not providing an environment that is 100% healthy and clean environment. Thinking “it cannot be that bad” is a mistake, because often it is ‘that bad’. The newer a hotel is, the cleaner it generally is, though this is not always the case.
Cost : Most people must stick to a limited budget, so it is always better to work out the total hotel cost before you make reservations. Once you have worked out the maximum amount that you can afford to spend on your hotel, the next step is to look at which hotels within that price range offer the best value for money.
Booking Online : Many hotel-booking websites provide you with all the information that you need to know to make your choice before arriving at your destination. Their website will include pictures of their rooms and facilities so you will know what to expect beforehand. Online bookings are typically accepted up to 24 hours before arrival, all major credit cards are accepted, and payments are processed through a secure server – it could not be easier or safer.
Reviews / Testimonials : Online hotel reviews and ratings are a great indicator of what you can expect from a hotel. What you read on the hotel’s own website is of limited use, because they are not going to say anything bad themselves. Just type the name of the hotel plus ‘review’ into a search engine and you will find out all that you need to know.
